The «modern» race is once again separated from the historical one (as usual) bringing the protagonists of the Italian Overall Rally-Sparco Championship to Western Liguria, finding again the Teglia SS and re-proposing Colle Langan SS. Alongside the national race there will be the traditional Sanremo Leggenda, concentrated on Saturday 9th April, and the ECO Rallye Sanremo reserved to ecological cars. Engines will start running from 2.00 pm on Friday 8th April.
SANREMO (IM), 1st March – Everything’s ready and set for the 69th edition of Rallye Sanremo, scheduled from Thursday 7 April (with the afternoon dedicated to technical checks, which will continue the following morning) to Saturday 9 April when the event will end at 05.30 pm on the arrivals platform located in Piazzale Adolfo Rava. The rally will be valid as second round of the Italian Overall Rally-Sparco Championship (CIARS), and as opening round of the Alps European Rally Trophy. Having overcome a large part of the COVID emergency, the «modern» Sanremo returns to be separated from the Historic race (scheduled in October) having as a corollary the traditional Sanremo Leggenda (now in its 14th edition), and the 4th ECO Rallye Sanremo for ecological cars.
The 69th Rallye Sanremo will start on Friday 8 April at 2.00 pm from the service park located in front of the Old Railway Station, to face the short 2.27 km televised stage of «Vigne di Bajardo» followed by a regrouping and Service Park at the Old Railway Station. To then return to the mountains behind Sanremo for the classic stages of Vignai (14.23 km) and Monte Bignone (10.51 km) to be repeated twice. The competitors will return to Sanremo at 9.15 pm with 51.75 km of special stages behind them, which will draw up the ranking of the first day. Saturday 9 April another intense day with two passes on the special stages that have made the history of Sanremo: Passo Teglia (9.17 km), Colle Langan (19.00 km) and Semoigo (7.36 km) before returning to Sanremo at 05.30 pm, after having covered 462.06 total kilometers in two days, 122.81 of which divided into 11 special stages.
«As per our tradition, we wanted to give a particular imprint to this edition of Sanremo,» says Sergio Maiga, who leads the staff that organizes the race. «In particular, this edition presents the recovery of the special stage of Passo Teglia and we are back on the asphalt of Colle Langan, after years of road degradation that did not allow the passage of rally cars».
Concentrated on Saturday 9 April the 14th Sanremo Leggenda that will lead its competitors to chase the crews of the national CIARS starting from the Old Railway Station at 11.15 am and returns there for the awards ceremony at 07.40 pm after having confronted themselves with the double passage on the Teglia, Colle Langan and Semoigo special stages. The“Leggenda” has a total length of 260.48 km, 63.00 of which are special stages. Two legs instead for the 4th Sanremo Eco Rally which will start on Saturday afternoon at 03.30 pm from the service park of the Old Railway Station, following the protagonists of the national championship on the stages of Vignai and Bignone.
