BELGIUM ADDED TO 2022 FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
Belgium added to 2022 FIA World Rally Championship
· Ypres Rally Belgium makes second WRC appearance after 2021 debut
· Asphalt fixture scheduled for 18 – 21 August
· Four-day encounter fills outstanding TBC date in calendar
Munich, 18 February 2022 – Ypres Rally Belgium will host an FIA World Rally Championship round for a second consecutive season after being added to the 2022 calendar today (Friday).
Last year Belgium bee the 35th nation to stagRC round since the series started in 1973. It will return when Ypres, in the north-western Flanders region, hosts round nine of the 13-rally series on 18 – 21 August.
The challenging asphalt event fills the date left outstanding when the 2022 fixture list was announced last October.
Ypres was first held in 1965 and is known as one of Europe’s toughest rallies. Narrow farm roads, littered with tight junctions and lined by drainage ditches, ensure there is no room for error.
Home hero Thierry Neuville won last year’s encounter after leading for virtually the entire distance.
The rally will feature three days of competition with an atmospheric service park in Ypres’ historic Grote Markt.
A Thursday afternoon start ceremony there will precede the shakedown – the final opportunity for drivers to fine-tune their cars. Full days of competition on Friday and Saturday will lead into Sunday’s finale, culminating with the lunchtime Wolf Power Stage.
Jona Siebel, managing director of WRC Promoter, which owns the WRC’s commercial rights, was delighted to welcome back Ypres Rally Belgium.
«Belgium brought something quite different to last year’s WRC due to its tricky special stages and fast-paced format, which meant there was little time for anyone to pause for breath,» he said.
«The Ypres region whole-heartedly throws itself into rally week. There’s a great buzz out on the stages and we’re sure that will be replicated in the town itself this time round when fans will be allowed in the beautiful Grote Markt service park.»
The final slot in the calendar came down to a choice between Ypres Rally Belgium and Barum Czech Rally Zlin, which was hoping to bring the WRC to the Czech Republic for the first time.
«We were hugely impressed with the professionalism and plans from the organising team in Zlin,» Siebel added. «The rally remains a key event in the FIA European Rally Championship and the door remains open to their WRC ambitions. We look forward to continue working with them.»
FIA WRC category manager Andrew Wheatley said: «Ypres Rally Belgium stepped in last season in exceptional circumstances and managed to deliver a strong and innovative event, which showcased the DNA of Belgian rally.
«The Royal Automobile Club Belgium, together with local organiser Club Superstage, demonstrated commitment and professionalism to put on a top-class WRC round and I’m glad the event will return to the calendar in August. In a rally nation like Belgium, this will be positive news for teams, competitors and fans.»
Alain Penasse, president of rally organiser Club Superstage, added: «We are very happy to be able to bring the FIA World Rally Championship to Ypres again. It is a reward for the efforts that the whole club, all volunteers, our partners and local authorities put in last year to make that first edition a success.»
The rally will feature a strong co-operation between official WRC lubricant partner Wolf Lubricants and event sponsor Ardeca Lubricants. Both companies are centred in Belgium.

SpeedAgro Rally Argentina: Cierre de inscripciones
13 abril 2022 – Del 22 al 24 de abril, se disputará el SpeedAgro Rally Argentina en Mina Clavero, en la provincia de Córdoba. En el día de la fecha, será el cierre de inscripciones para las tripulaciones extranjeras del CODASUR.
Esta nueva edición del SpeedAgro Rally Argentina, que además rendirá homenaje a Jorge Recalde, será válida por el Campeonato FIA CODASUR y el Rally Argentino. Consecuentemente, desde su anuncio, se convirtió en una competencia sumamente atractiva para los pilotos de toda la región, no solo por su histórico prestigio, sino también por el itinerario de carrera que contará con la presencia de tramos emblemáticos.
Entre la extensa lista de los pilotos que correrán las pruebas especiales en Traslasierra por el Campeonato Sudamericano, dentro de los RC5, se puede citar la participación de tripulaciones de los distintos países del continente como es el caso de Alba Ramirez-Gregorio Cespedes (Bol/Arg, Ford Fiesta Kinetic), Martin Tomas-Juan Pablo Pernigotti (Par/Arg, Ford Fiesta Kinetic), Guillermo Botazzani-Bernardo Coronel (Arg/Arg, Ford Fiesta Kinetic), Andre Allegretti-Pedro Sosa (Bra/Par, Honda Civic), Rodrigo Fialho-Rodrigo Arbiza (Uru/Uru, Renault Clio), entre tantos otros.
Por supuesto, el listado de competidores entre los RC2 también estará muy bien representado con Fabrizio Zaldivar-Carlos Del Barrio (Pry/Esp, Hyundai I20 N Rally 2), Gustavo Saba-Fernando Mussano (Pry/Arg, Volkswagen Polo GTI Rally2), Roberto Saba-Leonardo Suaya (Bol/Arg, Skoda Fabia Rally2), Miguel Zaldivar-Diego Cagnotti (Pry/Arg, Volkswagen Polo GTI Rally2), Augusto Bestard y José Luis Díaz (Pry/Arg, Volkswagen Polo GTI Rally2), Marcos Ligato-Rubén García (Arg, Citröen C3), Augusto D’Agostini-Juan Pablo Carrera (Arg, Skoda Fabia), Alejandro Cancio-Santiago García (Arg, Skoda Fabia), por mencionar solo a algunos de los pilotos que competirán en Argentina.
Las tripulaciones extranjeras que quieran competir por el CODASUR podrán completar tramitar su inscripción a través de la página wwww.rallyargentina.com, hasta el día hoy a las 20hs. Por su parte, las tripulaciones argentinas que se inscriban en el Campeonato FIA CODASUR y Argentino podrán hacerlo hasta el viernes 15.
En esta oportunidad, el SpeedAgro Rally Argentina tendrá un itinerario conformado por 11 tramos, con 147,61km de especiales y un total de 458,53km.

Los medios de comunicación que deseen cubrir esta edición del Rally Argentina podrán tramitar su acreditación online a través de la web del rally, hasta el 15 de abril.
EL TRAMO LUNAR ARGENTINO

El solo nombre de este especial lo define. Uno de los clásicos cordobeses, conocido y elogiado en el ámbito del rally mundial ¡Es el tramo que Jorge Raúl Recalde corría sin que sus navegantes leyeran la hoja de ruta, lo sabía de memoria! En esta oportunidad se correrá bajando hacia Mina Clavero. El comienzo es serpenteando entre las grandes piedras de las Altas Cumbres, con un tránsito un poco lento sobre un piso duro y algo roto. Luego mejora el piso, se hace un poco más veloz pero siempre sinuoso en un paisaje inigualable hasta Villa Benegas. Desde allí, es cada vez más veloz, con el piso que mejora mucho, pero que exige manejo hábil en cada metro. Sobre el final transita sobre el clásico Puente del Cura para terminar pocos metros después.

En un fin de semana muy interesante con la iniciación del Campeonato Provincial Cordobés de Rally, en la ciudad de La Calera, se llevó a cabo esta significativa competencia en la provincia mediterránea de nuestro país.
Con una masiva inscripción de binomios, alrededor de 128 anotados, donde lo más granado de la especialidad en esta región se dio cita. Con el vencedor de la general, el rio cuartense Juan Marchetto sobre un Mitsubishi del Grupo de Producción.
Mientras que en la divisional RC5, la victoria quedó en manos del cordobés, Claudio Menzi, navegado por Miguel Vera, incluyendo a la máquina nipona Nissan con su hermoso modelo March. Aventajando de punta a punta a sus rivales y dejando en claro su permanente intensidad sobre un auto de Rally. La idea del #Mariscal” es seguir en la totalidad del certamen y reeditar sus éxitos en el pasado, tanto en el Rally Nacional, como en la época dorada del Córdoba Rally Team junto a Martín Christie, Gabriel Pozzo y su reemplazante en ese entonces, Marcos Ligato.
Buena vidriera del Nissan March, que se impone con claridad en la división nutrida RC5 del clásico cordobés en La Calera.
