DMACK EXPECTS ANOTHER STRONG PORTUGUESE PERFORMANCE.

 

 

DMACK Expects Another Strong Portuguese Performance

Next week’s Rally de Portugal marks the start of a number of popular European summer rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship. Its tough gravel roads in northern Portugal have always seen DMACK’s gravel tyres excel in the challenging conditions.

The generally soft and compact stages suit both DMACK’s nominated compounds for this year, which have already proven their performance after winning stages and leading the Portuguese event overall last year.

2017 Performance 
Mads Ostberg was the early rally leader for DMACK after topping the time-sheets on the opening stage. Ostberg, and DMACK’s lead driver Elfyn Evans, went on to set a string of top-three stage times, including two stage wins.

Tyre Overview 
The DMG+2 tyre, which worked so well last year, is nominated again for WRC cars, with the medium GH34 and soft GS84 compounds perfect for the event.

WRC 2 and R5 cars will use the DMG+22, which also benefits from the same run-flat construction that was used in 2017 across the WRC car range. Compounds available are the medium GH44, which has been nominated for Portugal, and soft GS64.

DMACK 205/65R15 DMG+22, GH44 hard (22) and GS64 soft (16) 
Maximum allowed: 22

List 2 for WRC 
DMACK 215/65R15 DMG+2, GH34 hard (24) and GS84 soft (16) 
Maximum allowed: 24

This year shakedown tyres are not included in the overall event allocation.

Start: Guimaraes, 18:10 on Thursday 17 May 
Finish: Matosinhos, 14:20 on Sunday 20 May 
Stages: 20 stages, 358.19km 
Longest stage: SS12/15 Amarante 37.60km

Dick Cormack, DMACK managing director, said: “Our tyres have historically been strong on this event with compounds well-suited to the usually compact conditions. With stage victories last year, we know our nominated tyres have the performance and capability to be competitive against Michelin and Pirelli. While we don’t have a top WRC driver this season, we have a very strong mix of WRC2 and privateer customers next weekend.”
