Asphalt Action As DMACK Tackles Corsican Challenge
The first all-asphalt round of the 2018 FIA World Rally Championship season takes place this week with the gruelling Tour de Corse – famous for its relentless corners in the hills across the Mediterranean island of Corsica.
DMACK will roll-out its DMT-RC22 asphalt tyre for the event, which features construction and compound improvements from last season.

2017 Performance
Last year’s event was one to forget for DMACK lead driver Elfyn Evans. Technical problems on the opening day and an off-road excursion on the second day put paid to a solid result.
Tyre Overview
The DMT-RC22 asphalt tyre is available in two compounds, the hard H6+B nominated as the first choice for both tyre lists, and the soft option S6+. Its construction has been improved from last year and both soft and hard compounds should cover the mix of durability and performance needed in Corsica.
The wet pattern DMT-W is available for the first time this year and comes in a new WXS compound featuring enhanced wet properties.
Nominated Tyres
List 1 for R5 and WRC 2
DMACK 225/40R18 DMT-RC22, hard H6+B (22) and soft S6+ (18)
DMACK 225/40R18 DMT-W, wet WXS (8)
Maximum allowed: 22
List 2 for WRC
DMACK 225/40R18 DMT-RC22, hard H6+B (24) and soft S6+ (20)
DMACK 225/40R18 DMT-W, wet WXS (8)
Maximum allowed: 24
This year shakedown tyres are not included in the overall event allocation.

Dick Cormack, DMACK managing director, said: “We’ve made a number of improvements with our DMT-RC22 asphalt tyres since last season, however, the challenge that Corsica’s continuous corners provide can be pretty tough. Our soft and hard compounds should be suitable to cover the mix of conditions expected.”
