The Automobile Club d’Italia, through Aci Team Italia, has decided to support an initiative set up by Toyota and Motorsport Italia, which will allow three young Italian drivers, selected by Acisport to take part in three races of the European Rally Championship.
For the young drivers it’s a great opportunity to improve and implement their experience by taking part selective races on a Toyota GT86 CS- R3 developed by Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG).
The car will be followed in the races by Motorsport Italia and will be supported by Pirelli for an initiative that will see three young italian drivers challenging an ERC race with a Toyota GT86 CS-R3.
The selected drivers will be Luca Bottarelli at Rally Rzeszow in Poland on the weekend of 3rd-5th August, then will be the turn of Riccardo Canzian, who will run at Barum Czech Rally Zlín (25th-27th August) and finally Gianandrea Pisani competing at Rally di Roma Capitale scheduled from 15th to 17th September.
The Toyota GT86 CS-R3 is powered by a rear-wheel drive and a four-cylinder of 2.0 liters boxer engine capable of providing 238 CV and 230 Nm of peak torque at 6,800 rpm, while the Drenth gearbox is sequential with 6 gears.
The first race to see the Toyota GT86 CS-R3 in competition will be Rally Rzeszow, 5th round of the FIA European Rally Championship in Poland on the weekend of 3th-5th August.
The statement of Bruno De Pianto, Motorsport Italia’s Team Manager: “We are excited to compete with CS-R3 in these ERC 2017 stages. The support of Toyota TMG and ACI SPORT were the key to the success of this program.
As happened in the past with drivers such as Tanak and Paddon in the Pirelli Star Driver, Motorsport Italia will give everything to support the young drivers and to assist the evolution of the Japanese car that has already stunned us for its potential”
