JRC A FULL 2016
July 1st through 3rd, Japanese Rally Championship Round 5 “2016 ARK Rally Toya” was held.
4 July 2016
The rally that finally started the second half of season 2016, proved extremely harsh. Heavy rain on Day 1, followed by a terribly slippery surface on Day 2. A number of cars had to retire because of the flooding on the course’s trademark river crossing.
Amid such conditions, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X-team Nutahara-Sato dominated JN6 class on Day 1 with excellent driving. Not letting go of the lead on Day 2, they widened the gap with their followers and seized the win for the first time this season. Subaru WRX STI-crew Kamada-Ichino took the winners podium for the second time this season, coming in 3rd despite the wet conditions causing them trouble.
In class JN4, team Kagawa-Funaki driving a Honda Civic Type R ended 4th on Day 1 but, succeeding in switching positions on Day 2, finished in 3rd place.
Round 6 will be August 25 through 28, “Montre 2016 in Tsumagoi” in Gunma Prefecture’s Tsumagoi Village. Thank you for your continued support!
