FAW-VW Defended CRC Championship of the Year at Jixi Stop.
The final game of China Rally Championship (CRC) was concluded on Jan. 17th on Xingkai Lake, Mishan, Jixi. FAW-VW team successfully defended Championship of Confederations Cup, Championship of Carmaker of the Year Cup, Grand Championship of Racing Team of the Year, and Championship of the Year of National Four-wheel Drive Group. Chen De’an received Grand Championship of Domestic Riders of the Year. FAW-VW Sagitar Championship was also awarded S3-Group championship of stop games again, win this season’s “three successive championship.”
All FAW-VW team members worked hard to overcome challenges and difficulties in the game caused by adverse weather conditions with full cooperation and continuous struggles, and the imposing style perfectly concluded CRC 2015 season.
Promoting racing cause and racing culture has been regarded by FAW-VW as a corporate social responsibility beyond simple competitions.
The final game of China Rally Championship (CRC) was concluded on Jan. 17 on Xingkai Lake, Mishan, Jixi. The eight-month long 2015 season started in the end of last month was officially completed. FAW-VW racing team, which had demonstrated eye-catching performances in previous games of this season, won Jixi leg again. With leading total points, the racing team successfully defended Championship of Confederations Cup, Championship of Carmaker of the Year Cup, Grand Championship of Racing Team of the Year, and Championship of the Year of National Four-wheel Drive Group. As chief driver and team manager, Chen De’an lived up to expectations and won Championship of Domestic Riders of the Year with robust performance throughout the season.
FAW-VW Sagitar Team adopting new Sagitar racing cars again claimed the S3-Group championship of stop games; win three successive championship of this season. FAW-VW team’s performance in that game could be described as very productive and even the biggest winner of the season. The model of cooperation between carmakers and racing teams having been insisted by FAW-VW for many years was indeed a successful model for the industry.

Golf had no fear for challenges of coldness
CRC had not participated in any ice & snow rally in Jixi for years and its return to the frozen Xingkai Lake of Jixi in the final game of this season brought the passionate shock by the roaring engine to riders and enthusiasts in the snowy weather. However, given the ice solidity of Xingkai Lake, Jixi game was postponed from December until January of this year.
The seventh generation Golf chariot had no fear for the challenges of cold and snow
As the boundary lake of China and Russia, Xingkai Lake was located in the southeast of Heilongjiang Province. Usually the lake began to freeze in December and would be completely frozen within ten to fifteen days. When frozen, repeatedly pressed by vehicles or when it snowed, the almost one-meter-thick ice layer would be even more slippery, bringing more difficulties compared with previous stops, which made the game more changing and dangerous. To this end, three seventh-generation Golf changed for dedicated studded tires for icy road conditions and suspensions of vehicles were also adjusted. In addition, Jixi’s highest temperature during the game was merely sixteen or seventeen degrees below zero, and the harsh environment was self-evident. Therefore, the numbers of registered teams and riders had decreased.
Since the game was delayed for nearly a month, FAW-VW team actively prepared for the game during that period of time and they went to Changchun for one week-long winter training in early January. Chen De’an said during the special training that all vehicles were brought to the ice surface where riders’ control became more delicate and their response much sharper, also the work ability of the logistic team was improved.
Judging from the competition process, the winter training was obviously helpful for FAW-VW team. All riders, navigators and logistical and technical support team worked closely and struggled to overcome challenges caused by extreme weather conditions and difficulties that appeared during the game. The seventh generation Golf chariot had no fear for the cold, so Chen De’an and FAW-VW team could successfully win the final battle.
New Sagitar gained new successes
Besides seventh generation Golf chariot’s continued efforts, new Sagitar had also acquitted itself well since Longyou stop of last year. Back in 2007, FAW-VW organized FAW-VW Sagitar team and the previous generation Sagitar was the competing model. FAW-VW Sagitar championship team returned to CRC in this season and the new generation Sagitar racing cars had taken on an entirely new look.
According to S3-Group’s modification rules, the new Sagitar racing car still retained its original engine and some important components. It was precisely those restrictions that showed the new model’s superior performance and excellent quality. During the Longyou stop which was known as the “devil stage”, new Sagitar making its debut became a dark horse of S3 Group and won the group championship with unparalleled results. New Sagitar took the crown again in Wuyi, Zhejiang, where many riders crashed out.
New Sagitar’s performance on ice was equally outstanding
Faced with ice and snow road conditions for the first time, the new Sagitar’s performance was still impressive. Fine suspension tuning and perfect snow equipment ensured the new Sagitar racing car’s performance advantages in acceleration and turn-making, laying a solid foundation for the third championship. The test of muddy mountain road and slippery ice and snow road conditions demonstrated the new model’s hard power, and its performance in the next season would be more exciting.
Close experience of racing culture
The successes of Golf chariots and the new Sagitar make it possible for FAW-VW to conclude CRC 2015 season with an imposing momentum. Reviewing the entire 2015 season, we not only see FAW-VW persistent performance, but also the carmaker’s strong support for the event and the team.
As we all know, as one of China’s first automakers to participate in motor sport, FAW-VW has been tightly bound to CRC. From the registration of Jetta GTX as a completion model of international N-Group, the establishment of FAW-VW Qingyang Golf Team in cooperation with Beijing Qingyang Racing Team in 2005, to the recent participation of seventh generation Golf in racing fields as well as its innumerable great achievements, FAW-VW’s investment in the team and its participation in CRC had been gradually increased.
In 2014 season, FAW-VW team cooperated with Prodrive, an internationally renowned technical team, and completed a world-class modification of seventh generation Golf chariot comparable to WRC racing cars. In addition, the accession of WRC rider Atkinson made it possible for many riders and enthusiasts to witness the skills and style of the top-ranking driver. By these means, FAW-VW allowed the team to acquire the hard power to take the title and brought the overall competitiveness to a new level.
For FAW-VW, racing cars and the team’s performance is admittedly important, what is more important was to let more people approach car racing, feel car racing and like car racing, and in the course of the game they could experience the cultural connotations of automobile and automotive society’s civilization consciousness. In fact, promoting the racing cause and racing culture has been regarded by FAW-VW as a corporate social responsibility that beyond simple competitions.

Time flies and CRC 2015 season, after seven races of Hunan Guiyang, Gansu Zhangye, Beijing Huairou, Henan Dengfeng, Zhejiang Longyou, Zhejiang Wuyi and Heilongjiang Jixi, has left many unforgettable memories to racing enthusiasts. In 2016, the increasingly mature FAW-VW team will definitely bring more surprises to its fans and the industry, let’s just wait and see!
