RALLY INTERNATIONAL A FULL 2015
KEN BLOCK SET TO SHRED WITH AWESOME 2015 RACE SCHEDULE.
29 March 2015
Jump in, belt up and hold on; it’s set to be another killer year for the Head Hoonigan in Charge Ken Block. His full throttle 2015 calendar has just broken cover, and between May and November, Ken will be setting new record levels of shred in competitions all over the globe.
Alongside a much-anticipated appearance at the X-Games in Austin Texas, where he hopes to add to his current count of five medals, Ken will also be campaigning all 12 rounds of the US-based Global Rallycross Championship.
In GRC last season Ken topped the list as the top average qualifier – as well as having won the most heats – winning two events and taking 2nd overall in the championship, meaning he’s gunning for nothing short of championship glory this season.
That’s not all though. For stage rally action, Ken will be heading down to New Zealand to compete in the first two rounds of the New Zealand National Championship. On home turf Ken will also race in two rounds of the 2015 Rally America Championship; the New England Forest Rally and the Lake Superior Performance Rally.
Ken will also be bringing the limiter bashing noise to Gymkhana again. Monster Energy’s Gymkhana GRiD European Gauntlet Finale is scheduled for the 10th and 11th October in Athens, Greece, as well as this season seeing the first ever public demos of his 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn. To top things off Ken will also be working on the next video – currently code named Gymkhana EIGHT – for his hugely successful viral video series.
“I’m really excited about my race calendar for 2015,” Ken told us. “Just like last year, I feel really lucky to be able to have such a diverse race calendar. I’m looking forward to competing in the full GRC season again and going after that title. I only missed it by 5 points last season, so I’m confident that I’m the best contender for the title this year and I’ve been working my butt off with my team in the offseason so that we can have the best possible chances of taking it.
“I’m also going to get to run my 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn a few times as well for fans around the globe, including at the Top Gear Festival that’s taking place in South Africa. I’ve never been down there, so I think that’s going to be an incredibly fun trip. Overall it’s going to be a great season, I can’t wait for it to get started.”
