WRC2/ERC/FRC A FULL 2015
TGS TEAM CONFIRMS 2015 SEASON’S PLANS.
February 20th, 2015
‘Flying Finn’ Toni Gardemeister’s squad, TGS Team – settled in Estonia – with its classic and competitive ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 will start this season activities in Finland within the Finnish Rally Championship (FRC) in the following events; Mikkeli, the traditional SM Vaakuna and Seinäjoki. The big news is the admission to the team of the young Finn promise Teemu Suninen to drive the Czech vehicle with the well-known international co-driver – and former co-driver of Janne Touhino – Juho Hänninen. So now, Andreas Mikkelsen will start a new sport chapter with Suninen, both have these two events confirmed in Finland and look forward to doing some European competitions. Also, Suninen’s big interest to gain more experience at the Fabia Super 2000, built new by the French Oreca Group, and Mikkeli event of next weekend between February 20th and 21st it’s a valid option for Teemu.
Another Toni’s team initiative is Russian driver Dmitry Biryukov’s continuity in the Scandinavian crew, to enter again on some dates of the German and Austrian championships, at the ŠKODA S2000 steering wheel, as always. A vehicle that could be replaced at midyear by the expected Fabia R 5, still under full development by ŠKODA Motorsport in the Czech Republic at Mlada Boleslav technical facilities. And, the team’s intention to evaluate the possibility to purchase one unit to enter ERC events or therefore in WRC2 class of the World Championship.
It should be noted that Mikkeli Rally is a very meaningful event for the Finnish motorsport because the presence of great icons of the sport, such as Mikko Hirvonen – driving in the classic cars class with an old generation Ford Escort Rs and Marcus Grönholm; invited by his countryman Juha Salo to test the Peugeot 208 T16 R5 during Vaakuna’s Friday première.
2015 season starts for the team run by Toni Gardemeister with much expectation, illusion and having a young value that in the following years will make people talk, who follows the Finnish champions dynasty in the World Rally, let’s hope Teemu Suninen presentation be so.
