The French Motor Sports Federation is delighted with the decision of the Corsican Territorial Authorities which pronounced itself in favour of a return of the FIA World Rally Championship to Corsica on 5th February 2015 with the help of the financial backing it is prepared to grant.

The FFSA would like to thank Presidents Paul Giacobbi, President of the Corsican Executive Council, and Dominique Bucchini President of the Corsican Assembly, as well as all the members of this assembly for this decision, which will bring the world championship back to its roots* on 1-4 October 2015.

The FFSA, with the Corsican Regional Motor Sport Committee and the five Corsican motor sporting associations, the ASACC Tour of Corsica, the ASA Bastiaise, the ASA Corsica, the ASA Restonica and the ASA Terre de Corse, is fully mobilised to finalise in the shortest possible time the technical and logistical aspects linked to the organisation of the 11th round of the 2015 World Rally Championship.

The 2015 Tour of Corsica will take place from 1st to 4th October and the FFSA will give it the following main features:

– To renew with the past in which the French event forged its reputation, the route will consist of a succession of very long special stages that will highlight the Haute Corse region and the south of Corsica.

– A road-going event (outside the WRC classification) will also be organised in the context of the Tour of Corsica for Super Cars, prestigious vehicles, today’s GTs… Thus, the FFSA will give a wide range of participants the opportunity to see Corsica away from the world championship in an event combining regularity, discovery and leisure.

The official presentation of the event will be held in Corsica to announce the route of the 2015 Tour of Corsica.

*The first Tour of Corsica was held in 1956, and the event was part of the FIA World Rally Championship from its creation in 1973 up to 2008. The French round of the FIA World Rally Championship was run by the FFSA from 2010 to 2014 in Alsace. The FFSA was founded in 1952 and is one of the 200 national sporting associations in the FIA (Féderation Internationale de l’Automobile). Its president is Nicolas Deschaux and it is delegated by the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Popular Education, and the life of Associations. The FFSA’s mission is to organise, develop and promote motor sport and kart racing in France.
