It’s not often you find a racing legend who crosses motorsport formulas as successfully as Valentino Rossi has. With a stellar MotoGP career under his belt, a once-in-a-lifetime Formula One test, seat time in a NASCAR and now another epic showing at the historic Monza Rally Show – he’s proved his worth as the Greatest of All Time.

Set in the historic Monza circuit, the annual Rally show attracts thousands of eager fans waiting to catch a glimpse of their heroes as they take part in a series of timed stages as well as a ‘Masters’ head to head battle.

It all kicked off on Friday with two stages, giving Valentino a chance to perfect the setup of his Ford Fiesta RS WRC whilst battling with Spaniard Dani Sordo. Nailing three wins on Saturday, the GOAT couldn’t have been happier and he went into Sunday’s action with another win on the first stage.

With nine stages in total, Dani Sordo just squeezed in the win, celebrating with a smoky set of donuts to a thrilled crowd. But the biggest cheers were always for the national hero and Valentino lapped up the adoration with his own smoke show on the pit straight.

For one last show for the fans, the afternoon Masters Show pitched drivers against each other in head-to-head heats, all battling for a place in the Grand Final. Valentino blitzed through the first heat, beating Longhi by 13 seconds. Sadly the second heat – against arch rival Sordo – saw Valentino overcook on a chicane and clip a tyre wall, but he still managed to make it through to semis and the final itself along with the Spanish Citroen driver.

After the Grand Final, Valentino was pumped to have taken part in the event as always, “For me this is one of the highlights of the year – I get to race against my friends and there is very little pressure to perform. It is a shame that I didn`t get the overall wins today but I`m proud of four stage wins which is incredible for me. And I get to see all of the fans from rally and MotoGP which is great. I’m coming back next year!”
